Name: Ronnie
Breed: Spanish street Dog
Likes: Running and jumping
Dislikes: Fireworks
Age: Unknown date of birth. Approx 2016.
Quirks: She knows precisely when it’s 4pm and tells me, ‘It’s dinner time mummy’ by leaping around and making funny noises. She can jump over 6ft fences.
Bio – Ronnie started her life on the streets of Spain. She was rescued in 2016, malnourished and poorly. In 2017, we adopted her. At first, she had an issue with recall and bolting, which is why her first adoption fell through. With time and patience, she now understands she has a home, a loving family, and never leaves my side.
She has Epilepsy, which fortunately is not severe nor affects her day-to-day life. She has an underbite, so you can see her bottom teeth protruding, which makes her face look cute and comical. A few of her favourite activities are chasing squirrels and swimming in rivers. She is super affectionate and extremely gentle; she has to be the only dog I’ve ever met that goes completely floppy when picked up and she adores being cuddled like a baby.
Name: Keef
Breed: Pomeranian cross Chihuahua.
Likes: His favourite yellow tennis ball, playing fetch and giving sloppy kisses.
Dislikes: Having his nails trimmed.
Age: Date of birth: approximately April 2015.
Quirks: He will play fetch for hours and hours until we eventually get bored. He loves to sleep upside down with his legs poking in the air. He arches his back in pleasure like a cat when stroked or scratched; he also has a cute wonky eye.
Bio: Keef was born in Ireland to a stray dog who found shelter in a barn. Although he has always been a happy-go-lucky dog, as a puppy, when he arrived in the UK, he was very poorly and had a lot of worms. Thankfully, with a few vet visits, lots of love, and a warm home, he was in full health in a short time.
Keef is a social butterfly and loves to say hello to everyone he meets. From a small pup, he has always had an obsession with balls and pulling at my socks as I walk. He also enjoys playing in rivers and arguing with his brother Dooey. Every morning, his routine is to slowly crawl up the bed, eventually lying across my chest, staring at me while wagging his fluffy tail.
Name: Dooey
Breed – Minature Pinscher cross chihuahua.
Likes – Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Dislikes – Doors banging and getting out of bed.
Age – Date of birth: 30th November 2011.
Quirks – Sitting on his back legs and looking like a meerkat. Hiding biscuits under cushions and pillows.
Bio – Back in 2011, I was looking for my own pet when I stumbled across a gorgeous picture of Dooey as a puppy. His unusual markings instantly caught my eye, so that day, I paid a deposit and drove a 5-hour round trip to get my new puppy. Sadly, when I arrived, I was horrified to discover I was at what looked like a puppy farm. There was an endless chorus of dogs barking, and the house was filthy. Sadly, Dooey still has some issues with loud noises, trusting strangers, and is clingy to mummy and daddy. He was possibly separated from his mum too early and had little to no socialization with humans when he was a pup. After that, I swore I would not line dog breeders’ pockets and only rescue.
When you get to know him, Dooey is a real character; he loves to let us know when the postman is coming. His favourite activity is to sleep, preferably where it is warmest, under a duvet, and he is absolutely food-obsessed. Although a bit older and slower now, when he was younger, he was super fast, even keeping up with me cantering my horse around the woods.
He is one of the most intelligent dogs and learns tricks very easily; it probably helps that he loves food! Some of Dooey’s tricks include closing doors when asked, weaving through legs, speaking on command, and giving his paw to shake hands, to name a few.
